Welcome To Excel High School, where diversity is our strength and everything we do is guided by our core values of “Respect, Responsibility, Citizenship, and Grit.” We welcome parents to be an active part of our community as we understand that we can’t be successful without your help and support. Excel High School has open door policy for our families and welcomes you to come and visit us at any time. Excel’s Parent Newsletter is published monthly. and is an excellent resource that promotes family engagement and provides Excel’s parents/guardians important information and practical advice about how to help their teens be successful in as well as out of school.
Family Engagement: we have an office for Student and Family Engagement. This office coordinates parent-teacher conferences, School Parent Council (SPC), school tours, parent communication through Excel’s website, Student Government, and open houses, to keep our families aware and involved with Excel High. We are proud that parent participation in SPC monthly meetings has increased. Meetings are a great way to learn about what’s happening at Excel and give ideas and feedback.
Our Parent Council: Excel has a vibrant School Parent Council (SPC). The SPC brings all parents in the school community together to support the school and advocate for quality education. Every parent or guardian of a BPS student is automatically a member of the School Parent Council. The SPC works closely with the School Site Council to review the school’s budget, recommend programs, sponsor events and solve problems.
Excel High School Site Council, (SSC) and School Parent Council (SPC) meetings will be held on the first Tuesday of every month from 4:00- 6:00 PM at Excel High School, in room 211. All are welcome! We appreciate your continuing and past support and as always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Mr. Said Ahmed, our Student, Family and Community Engagement Coordinator
Student Information System
The BPS Student Information System (SIS) represents a major investment in the use of technology & data to improve instruction, a core element of our Acceleration Agenda. With this system parents, our educators and school leaders can easily access and manage real-time information on student learning to help personalize instruction.
It’s a safe, secure, online tool that helps families engage in their child’s education. With the SIS Family Portal you can see:
- How to create a SIS Family Portal account
- Daily attendance
- Class attendance
- Report card grades
- Academic progress (including test, quiz, and assignment grades)
- Student schedules
- Sign up for email notifications of changes to attendance and grades
A valid email account is required to create a portal account. For assistance with creating an email or to learn more about how to use the web, visit Boston’s Tech Goes Home website.
